What is involved in an eye test?

Eye tests vary from simple ingrown eye-lash removal to comprehensive consultations involving dilation. General eye-tests consist oFundus_photograph_of_normal_right_eyef the following:

  • A thorough case history
  • Internal eye examination
  • External eye examination
  • A test of how clearly you see
  • How well your eyes work together as a team
  • How well you see colour

Why should I have my eyes tested?

Your eyes cannot be replaced. They are your window to the world and regular testing can provide early detection and prevention of various eye conditions. An eye test can reveal conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma, macular degeneration, multiple sclerosis and some brain tumours. Some of these conditions have little or no symptoms, so it is recommended you receive regular checks. So whether you can see clearly or otherwise, if it has been too long since your last test book one today!

How much is an eye test?

Here at Taylor Eyewear eye-tests are bulk-billed to eligible Medicare patients and there is no out of pocket expense to you. If you are an overseas visitor or do not have a Medicare card, comprehensive eye tests start at $60.00.

I need glasses, what happens next?

If the optometrist prescribes you glasses, our friendly team of trained optical dispensers will then take care of choosing an appropriate frame and lens package.

I have my own prescription from another Optometrist, can I shop at your store?

Yes you can. Your prescription belongs to you and your optometrist should give you a copy on request. We can, with your permission, phone your optometrist to get a copy if you so desire.
